2017 Winner - Cape Canaveral, FL

Culture and Leisure Services Director Gustavo Vergara from the City of Cape Canaveral was the winner of the Great Play Giveaway, presented by Parks & Recreation Business and Camp Business Magazine! As the winner, the City received a brand-new Nucleus®/Intensity® playground valued at almost $30,000!

As part of the third annual contest, all recreation departments and camps could enter to win a playground for their community that will help children develop skills that transcend the playground, including motor skills, cognitive planning and cooperation.

Cape Canaveral Mayor, Bob Hoog said, “On behalf of the City of Cape Canaveral, I’m grateful for the opportunity to enhance children’s lives through active play with this amazing gift. The playground will be a welcomed addition to Manatee Sanctuary Park which is our flagship riverfront park. The playground will improve the user experience for visitors to the park for years to come and we thank Northstar Publishing and BCI Burke for hosting the contest. Children from our summer camp program chose the color scheme and are excited to see their selection come to fruition.”
