The city has entered into a contract with Kingsport-based Barge Design Solutions to engineer and design a splash pad, water feature and playground at King Commons Park, a project meant to coincide with the city’s 150th anniversary in 2019. Total project cost is estimated at $3.5 million. Construction is anticipated in early 2019.

Design development and a public input phase are underway for The Lake Effect: Signature Project — a proposed revitalization of Wayzata’s lakefront. The project will include shoreline restoration, a boardwalk, eco park, renovations to the Depot Park area, redesign of Lake Street and a multi-use plaza.

The town council has approved an appropriation of $94,500 for a pre-design of a multi-generational community center.

The city is the recipient of state grants totaling more than $1.3 million dollars to be used for a new splash pad at Eiffel Park as well as sidewalks, curbs and gutters and other improvements on Wilson Street.

The Floridians Football Club is moving forward with plans to build a multi-million dollar sports complex on a 12-acre city-owned parcel on Northwest 31st Ave. in the Palm Aire area.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has selected design consultants for Phase I Improvements for Currie Park. The project scope includes a new splash pad and improvements to the park's restroom building and playground. Upon MPRB review and selection of the project scope, the consultant will further provide community engagement support, design, construction documentation, bidding and construction administration services for the identified Phase I Improvements.

The 60 percent design has been approved for Phase 1 of the Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park, a new 59-acre regional park that will be built near the fairgrounds in Golden Gate Estates.

In a special election on March 6, local voters approved a measure to issue bonds in an amount not to exceed $2.8 million to help finance a new swimming pool. The pool will be built in the same footprint as the current pool, retaining six 25-yard lap lanes and a separate 13-foot diving hopper. Base plans call for a wider, ADA compliant pool deck, a zero-depth entry area for families with young children, a single one-meter diving board, and a new bathhouse.

The Lexington Parks and Recreation Department has finalized the design for a new BMX/Skate park. The project will be out to bid by the end of August 2018 and construction is estimated to take less than six months, starting at the end of the year.

The city is proceeding with plans to build a new $1.5 park in the downtown area off Brown Street. The park that will consist of an amphitheater, a splash pad, playgrounds, multiple pavilions and a walking trail is expected to be open to the public in April 2019.

Architects are working on designs for improvements to include an expanded zero-entry pool, more shade structures, expanded restrooms, more picnic pavillions, and splash pad. The project will also include a new gymnasium and upgraded shuffleboard, bocce ball and pickelball courts.

The redevelopment consists of removing the existing "caddyshack" building, removing the existing play and splash pad equipment, preparing the site for new facilities and constructing the new splash pad, including a shaded structure, picnic facilities, a restroom, a changing room, concession, lighting, fencing, landscaping and electrical work. The estimated cost of the project is $969,822.
