One of only a few public parks along the shores of Crystal Lake, Louise Levingston Cove is a linear, half-acre public park located in a residential neighborhood. Crystal Lake, and Levingston Cove in particular, is a place of nostalgia, where people learned to fish as kids, launched kayaks, or simply enjoyed some alone time, taking in spectacular views.

Visit Seneca Landing Special Park on any weekend—or most weekdays for that matter—and you are sure to encounter a crowd. The park, located in Poolesville, Md., adjacent to Lock 24 on the historic C&O Canal, is a draw for birders, bikers, history buffs, and boaters.

Wenberg County Park (formerly Wenberg State Park) in Washington is on a 46-acre site located on the shores of Lake Goodwin in northwest Snohomish County, serving 65,000 visitors this past year. The park includes 1,140 feet of shoreline for swimming, sunning, boat-launching, and now fishing.
