SYNLawn San Diego Honored at the Sixth Annual Synthetic Turf Council Awards

San Diego, Calif., (October 25, 2023) — SYNLawn San Diego is proud to announce it was selected as a winner of one of the 2023 Synthetic Turf Council (STC) Awards. The honorees were revealed during an awards ceremony at the STC’s annual conference and 20th anniversary celebration in New Orleans. The STC Awards is a program designed to recognize members who help to promote the association’s values and advance the synthetic turf industry. SYNLawn San Diego received the Recreational Landscape Project of the Year award in recognition of their design and installation work on a custom play space in Olympus Park in Encinitas.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by the STC for our involvement in this important initiative that connects the local community with a new recreational space,” said Jamie Neagle, general manager of SYNLawn San Diego. “Synthetic turf has proven to be a great playground surface since it can be used to create a variety of elevations and slopes like the popular slide feature at Olympus Park.”

Olympus Park is a 3.1-acre community recreational space that features a wide range of amenities such as a botanical garden designed in collaboration with the San Diego Botanic Garden, walking trails, a zipline, an exercise pad that allows visitors to practice yoga and other fitness classes, a small dog park, a bike pump track, public art elements and the play area that SYNLawn San Diego built. For this award-winning project, SYNLawn San Diego collaborated with the City of Encinitas, California and RRM Design Group. The playground and adjacent landscaping areas were created using 2,000 square feet of SYNLawn’s Play Platinum. As part of the design, SYNLawn San Diego had to factor in the slopes and undulations of the installation, including the adventure hill, so they used a pour-in-place safety course that allowed them to glue the turf to the cushion course directly. The Play Platinum they installed is the safest artificial grass surface for kids and it’s made with Super Yarn™ technology that provides heat reflective, anti-static, Sanitized®, and non-abrasive grass blades. It also has a Class A fire rating to ensure the surfacing meets all standards for playground use. More information about the recreational project is available here.

SYNLawn San Diego also celebrated one of their fellow distributor teams, New England Turf Store/SYNLawn New England, winning the Commercial Landscape Project of the Year award.

“We’re extremely proud of our hardworking distributors and their teams for winning these prestigious awards from the STC,” said George Neagle, president of SYNLawn. “These notable achievements reflect both teams’ design and installation expertise, creativity, unmatched dedication to their clients and their stellar skills.”
