Watershape University Endorses the Model Aquatic Health Code

Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code Announces New Endorsement In Support of CDC’s the MAHC

Maricopa, Ariz. – The Council for the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) is pleased to share that Watershape University (WU), the industry’s leading resource for design, engineering, and construction education, has released a position statement firmly recommending the adoption of the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC). As leaders in the field of aquatics and an IACET Accredited Provider of education, WU fully endorses the MAHC and incorporates its best-practice recommendations and technical principles into WU programming.

WU joins a growing list of other leading industry organizations in recommending that state, territory, and local health departments; aquatic facilities; and the industry-at-large, evaluate and embrace, support, and adopt all or part of the MAHC, with the ultimate goal of protecting the health of aquatic facilities, their staff, and patrons. “At WU, health and safety are vital in everything we do—protecting those who use our industry’s products is our most important purpose and professional obligation,” said Lauren Stack, vice president, WU. “As the industry’s leading resource, the MAHC addresses these key health and safety issues, backed by CDC’s science-based guidance and CMAHC’s mission to keep it current through the triennial, member-driven update process.”

Owned by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the MAHC is a voluntary set of guidelines to prevent injury and illness at public aquatic venues, such as pools, hot tubs, and water playgrounds. These guidelines bring together the latest science and best practices to help jurisdictions save time and resources when they develop and update pool codes. The MAHC outlines specific guidance that designers, builders, and managers of public aquatic venues can follow to maximize the fun and the health benefits of water-based activities.
