Paradigm LED Wins GOOD DESIGN Award
CHICAGO – Troy RLM Lighting has been presented with the prestigious 2014 Green GOOD DESIGN™ award for its Paradigm LED fixture, part of a series of traditional and modern fixtures inspired by factory RLM shades of the early 20th century that are combined with modern lamping technologies. Presented by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the Green GOOD DESIGN™ Awards are an extension of the GOOD DESIGN™ Awards. The GOOD DESIGN™ Awards were founded in Chicago in 1950 by renowned architects, holding much clout in searching for the most innovative product designs. Now in its sixth year, the Green GOOD DESIGN™ Awards focuses on practices, products and architecture that are environmentally sound, yet also cutting-edge. Troy RLM Lighting’s Paradigm LED fixture won among hundreds of submissions from around the world and was chosen by members of The European Center’s International Advisory Committee, a special jury comprised of worldwide leaders in the design industry.
The Paradigm LED is part of Troy RLM Lighting’s “Modern Visions” collection and offers a contemporary take on a traditional RLM fixture. Paradigm features a halo design with an aluminum shade with glass lens and two-toned shade and lens ring option that can be installed as a pendant or with miter arm. The Paradigm 14” diameter includes a 20W LED while the 18” diameter features 44W LED, and both have incandescent dimming capabilities. All Troy RLM designs are individually made to order in more than 20 finishes with a variety of lamping, arm, stem, post and other mounting options. Every piece is made in the USA at Troy Lighting’s 200,000 square foot manufacturing facility in City of Industry, California.
“We are thrilled that our Paradigm LED has been chosen among the hundreds of submissions for this prestigious award,” said Steve Nadell, president of Troy-CSL. “Our Paradigm LED is a contemporary interpretation of classic RLM downlights, and we are honored to have our design and use of the latest technologies recognized among the discerning jury. Our Troy RLM division continues to grow; we are introducing new LED fixture designs and have recently debuted a special customizable hanging structure that will incorporate our RLM-inspired designs, and we hope to get more positive feedback from the design community."
