Scholarships Handed Out At Awards Reception

On May 22, 2013 the Department of Landscape Architecture at California State University Pomona held their Annual Landscape Architecture Scholarship and Awards Reception. Awarded that evening were undergraduate program awards, graduate program awards, and scholarship awards. Don Brinkerhoff, founder and chairman of Lifescapes International Inc., and Cal Poly Pomona alumnus, was on hand to honor the students that were the recipients of his two annual scholarship programs; The Don Brinkerhoff Landscape Architecture Scholarship and the Lifescapes International Scholarship.

Three one-time $750 Lifescapes International Scholarships were presented to Greg Dalton, Denise Munoz, and Anais Placido . These scholarships are provided to fund Landscape Architecture students with financial needs. The Don Brinkerhoff Landscape Architecture Scholarship, a $10,000 unrestricted award, is the largest scholarship ever awarded in the College of Environmental Design, and is awarded to a second or third-year landscape architecture student with demonstrated need and ability as a self-starter, leader and team player. Don Brinkerhoff and Lifescapes International were proud to award the 2013 honor to Armando Silva . At the age of 17 Mr. Silva attended Cerritos College to study Architecture. In 2008 he received his AA certificate within the program, but still yearning to satisfy his thirst for knowledge, went on to attend Cal Poly Pomona.

Finding his new passion in Landscape Architecture, Armando won the award for most outstanding sophomore of the year in 2011 and is currently on the Presidents Honor Roll.

Lifescapes International wishes to congratulate all 2013 recipients!
