ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – The City of Round Rock's Parks and Recreation Department will hold the inaugural Night Rider Family Bike Ride from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday, August 3 at Centennial Plaza in downtown Round Rock. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. The Night Rider Family Bike Ride is a non-competitive family bike ride and block party at night through Round Rock. Night Rider is a unique, exciting ride and party for all ages. It is not a race! Bicyclists will be allowed to ride at their own safe pace. Police support and volunteers will be along the route to ensure a safe and fun ride.. Glow-in-the-dark bike gear and flashing lights are encouraged. The ride will start and finish at the Centennial Plaza (located behind the Baca Center and the McConico Building ) and tour around the City, all under the Texas stars. The first 400 Night Riders receive a drawstring bag and glow-in-the-dark gear and the first 150 Night Riders get a free Night Rider commemorative T-shirt. (Please see entire schedule of events and times below) .

The first annual “Night Rider” does not end with a simple bike ride across the city, but will have plenty of festivities happening before and after the ride. Before the ride takes place, riders can take part in the “Light Your Ride” contest at 7:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to spiff up their bike with glow-in-the-dark gear and flashing lights. Not only for a chance to win a prize, but to enhance the nighttime ride under the stars.

The ride is approximately 5.5 miles, traveling through various parts of downtown Round Rock and allows plenty of time in between for scheduled pit stops, thanks to our sponsors. Upon completion of the ride, guests are invited to stay at Centennial Plaza for a Family Block Party. Riders will enjoy refreshments, family activities, including an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, lawn games, children’s crafts and many more exciting events. There will also be a special LIVE music performance from Blue Finger Disco during all the family festivities.

Early registration to Night Rider is $10.00 per rider before August 2 nd and then it increases to $15.00 the day of the event. This is a non-competitive, friendly gathering dedicated to bringing families together. All participants are required to have a bike helmet and front/rear reflectors or lights. Buck’s Bikes staff will provide tire, brake and helmet checks to ensure riders have the safest and most enjoyable experience possible!

This event is sponsored by the following organizations: Buck’s Bikes, AJ’s Cyclery and Spirit 105.9 . The event schedule is subject to change. Please visit www.RoundRockRecreation.com for more information and to register for the event. For the safety of all guests, no pets are permitted along the bike ride.
