Falling Into Fun

My 5-year-old daughter (with the help of her twin sister) strapped on the speed-and-agility parachute and took off running across the yard.

As she ran, she couldn’t resist turning around to see if the parachute was filling with air and, of course, whenever she did, would trip and fall, sprawling out on the ground, arms and legs going whichever way.

With a laugh, she’d get back to her feet and do it all over again--to the cheers and encouragement of her brother and sisters who were working their way through the agility ladder near our back fence.

As a father, it was fun to watch my kids sweaty, smiling and working together.

Later, as I sat at my desk organizing myself for the week, it occurred to me how similar that little backyard session was to my life at this particular point in time.

Our little company has been working hard for the last two years to figure out how technology fits into our mission here at PRB ( Parks & Rec Business ) and, like my twins and their parachute, we took off running, occasionally turning around to see if our efforts were working only to stub our toe, fall to the ground and start all over again.

In the end, we made it to the other side of the yard and discovered that our new website, mobile website, reader app and park finder app were still behind us and filled with air. And, when we looked around to see if anybody noticed, we found you cheering us on, encouraging us and, in many cases, thanking us.

It’s been very rewarding.

This issue you now hold in your hand is another milestone.  It’s the largest buyer’s guide we’ve ever published--featuring more than 200 vendors who’ve decided to list their companies and their products/services both in this print edition but also in the online and mobile editions found at ParkBids.com.

Now it’s your turn. Take a moment to browse the listings and find the perfect vendor for your next project. Don’t have anything happening right now? Keep this issue handy or bookmark ParkBids.com.

Not only can you search the online directory of vendors, but you can also log in to your Insider account to upload your Bid, RFP or RFQ documents for review and response by all the vendors in our system.
