The success of the American Hiking Volunteer Vacations program depends on hard-working and dedicated volunteers.
If you are interested in taking on a more active role during your next Volunteer Vacation and contributing your leadership skills and personality to help fellow crew members, consider being an American Hiking Society Crew Leader.
AHS Crew Leaders act as liaisons between the AHS office, the project host and the crew. You do not need to be an expert trail builder to take on the role of Crew Leader, but you do need to have prior Volunteer Vacation experience and be motivated to improve our nation's foot trails.
The main responsibilities of Crew Leaders include pre-trip communications with AHS, the crew and host; meal planning and lodging logistics; and ensuring the well-being of all volunteers. Good communication and organizational skills are essential. Flexibility and a good sense of humor are important and most welcome!
We will be holding Crew Leader Orientations this fall for all those interested in learning about the role of Crew Leader.
The orientation will be held via conference call and should take one hour.
