Lifeguard Competition

Do you have what it takes to make a splash in the lifeguarding business?

If you are in Connecticut, put your skills to the test in the 2011 Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association Lifeguard Competition.

Teams of six to 10 guards will battle it out at the Odessa Terry Pool, 310 High St., East Hartford, beginning at 2 p.m. July 24. (Rain date is July 31.)

Teams will compete in events including Critical Incident, Shallow Water Backboard, Submerged Non-Spinal Rescue, Water Polo, Biathlon, Brick and Tube Relay and the mysterious "Gauntlet".

Teams, which must include at least two women, are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

Prizes will be awarded, and pizza and soda will be provided after the event.
