Evans Recognized By The OABA

Cincinnati, Ohio--J.C. Evans, chairman of Gold Medal Products, is the first to receive the Pioneer Award in recognition of his career service and growth of the concession industry. This award will be presented by the national trade organization representing more than 3,000 members from the mobile amusement industry. The Outdoor Amusement Business Association, Inc.’s (OABA) Hall of Fame Award Committee honored Evans at their annual meeting on February 14. The committee chose him for his lifetime of achievement and dedication to his Gold Medal family of more than 350 employees nationwide and an international network of dealers. Watkins Glen KOA Owners Named Top Franchisees For 2008

Billings, Mont.--Cam and Paul Friesen, owners of the Watkins Glen, N.Y. KOA Campground for the past 17 years, were named KOA's Franchisees of the Year for 2008. The Watkins Glen KOA, in the heart of the New York Finger Lakes region, includes a new indoor swimming pool, spa and fitness center, as well as full-service Kamping Lodges with full kitchens, bathrooms and showers. The campground received high marks from its campers who participated in KOA's Kamper Satisfaction Survey in 2008.

Also receiving special recognition Monday was the Cardinal/Ottawa South, Ontario, Canada KOA owned by Daniel Parent and Karen McAndrew. That campground received the KOA Rising Star Award, given each year to a new KOA franchisee who has demonstrated great operational and customer service skills early in their KOA careers. ASHI Offers New Training Materials

Eugene, Ore.--American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) announces the launch of new Basic First Aid for the Community and Workplace training materials. This release incorporates both instructor and student resources.

In direct response to requests by first-aid instructors, the ASHI Basic First-Aid Instructor Package features an enhanced DVD (77 minutes) that covers over 50 emergency-care topics. The release also includes a revised Instructor Guide with a new instructor-friendly layout as well as a modified PowerPoint presentation that corresponds directly to the new student materials. The new student handbook offers larger, graphic-rich pictures in an easy format. These new materials continue to follow the 2005 guidelines for first aid (new guidelines will not be released until 2010.)

ASHI Students will also be able to utilize either a traditional print- or digital-book format. The digital-book version of Basic First Aid will give students anytime access to the same emergency care reference materials as contained in the hard copy. Accessed through the ASHI Digital Book Download Center (ashinstitute.org/digitalbook.htm), students do not need to purchase additional electronic devices or software to access the handbook.
