Slip-Resistant Components
INDIANAPOLIS -- Natare Corporation announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted the company U.S. Patent No. 6,722,177 covering methods for making aquatic components slip-resistant. NataTread was first introduced in the spring of 2001 and is commonly used on the horizontal surfaces of all Natare perimeter gutter systems and many other stainless steel swimming components where slip-resistance and sure footing is required.
The NataTread surface is created through a process of punching the underside of stainless steel, using a special tool that does not penetrate the surface, but instead produces a pattern of small dimple-like projections or protrusions, similar to the surface on Braille nameplates.
