New Ulm, Minn. -- The New Ulm City Council has approved the advertisement of multiple RFPs seeking construction management and design services for several parks and recreation projects. Initial RFPs will be issued for an indoor waterpark, indoor playground, gymnastics center, and wellness center. The second set of solicitations, for A/E services, will be issued for improvements to the Johnson Baseball Park Grandstand, a winter seasonal dome structure to cover the new ISD 88 soccer/football field, and improvements to Hermann Heights Park. According to the timeline recommended by the New Ulm Park and Recreation Department, construction projects at the recreation center would begin in April 2019. The projects are being funded through the RENU program which stands for Reinvest in New Ulm, an effort to fund city infrastructure improvements through a local sales tax. Bids and RFPs will be reported on individually and posted on www.civilscapenews.com.
