American Muscle Docks

Facility Name: The Haddad Riverfront Park

City/State: Charleston, WV

Type of Facility: Dock

The Haddad Riverfront Park dock consists of a 10-foot x 500-foot main walkway, an 8-foot x 120-foot stationary access walkway, three aluminum gangways, custom dock flash siding and matching pile caps to compliment the stern wheel theme of the park. The new docks allow boating access to the city’s major venue for their robust concert and outdoor activity programs.

AZEK

Facility Name: The Living City Campus at Kortright, The Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)

City/Province: Vaughan, Ontario, north of Toronto

Type of Facility: Environmental Learning Centre

Size: 1,200 square feet

In 2012, AZEK Permeable Pavers were installed in a section of the Living City Campus’ parking area as a test surface. Testing evaluates the pavers’ effectiveness for runoff and water quality control, maintenance needs and how they endure Ontario’s climate. After two winters, results show runoff reduction and good water quality.

BCI Burke

Facility Name: The Jets Play 60 All-Access Playground of Morris County

City/State: Morris Plains, NJ

Cost of Project: $161,427 ($26,860 state contract, $7,300 Burke grant)

Type of Facility: Playground

Size: 10,500 square feet

The all-access playground with double-wide ramps has multiple ground-level play events, multiple accessible elevated play events, supportive swing seats and a wheelchair swing. There is total access from the parking lots to the play area with poured-in-place rubber resilient safety surfacing.

Brandstetter Carroll

Facility Name: Ray Jones Family Athletic Complex at Muhlenberg County Park

City, State: Greenville, Ky.

Cost of Project: $8 million

Status: Completed September 2014

Phase 1 of a multi-phase project on 250 acres includes a five-field baseball/softball complex with concession/restroom building; office/meeting building; tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts; playgrounds and two picnic shelters; walking trail; batting cages. All fields are lighted and irrigated. With 17 tournaments scheduled next summer, all facilities are sponsored with over $895,000 in sponsorships. The new county-wide park system was started in 2012.

Pine Hall Brick

Facility Name: Triangle Park

City/State: Lexington, Ky.

Type of Facility: City Park

Size: 16,000 square feet

Pathway Full Range pavers weave their way through the Kentucky Bluegrass-covered park, allowing the community to host events, support musical and theatre acts and offer a patch of green in the middle of downtown. The project won the 2014 Brick in Architecture Gold Award for Paving and Landscaping.

Public Restroom Company

Facility Name: Tidelands Beach Restrooms

City, State: Long Beach, Calif.

Cost of Project: $820,000+

Type of Facility: Three restroom buildings

Status: Installed February 2014

Square Footage: Three restrooms totaled 1,706 square feet

Three turnkey restrooms were installed at remote beach locations. They were built to withstand the coastal elements, including fiberglass doors that will not rust or bow, and prison-grade, vandal-resistant fixtures. The single occupant designs allows for high traffic flow through the restrooms, maximizing capacity while minimizing maintenance. The outdoor sinks allow for users to wash hands without having to go into a stall. The large utility chase in each restroom allow for easy maintenance.

Randoph Rose

Name: Military Road Monument “My Friends Place” Bar & Grill near the entrance of Camp Robinson

City, State: North Little Rock, Ark.

Cost of Project: $30,000 +

The custom bronze sculpture of a Desert Storm U.S. Army Soldier was created for the Military Road Monument Fund. It is dedicated to all of the men and women who have served our country in times of war and peace.

Vortex International

Facility Name: Parc de la Cité

City, State: Longueuil, Quebec (Canada)

Type of Facility: Splashpad

The Splashpad in Parc de la Cité was designed in partnership with Imagineo and the city of Longueuil who were looking for a safe and inclusive attraction that would entertain people of all ages and abilities. It also had to meet the city’s concerns for lower staffing and maintenance costs, and include an efficient and flexible water-management system to reduce the city’s environmental impact.

The result is an aquatic playground whose nature-inspired shapes, colors, and designs were chosen to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Tall, tree, leaf and flower features spray water in all directions for a dynamic play experience, while Vortex’s Seeflow material casts vibrant shadows and shapes for a mesmerizing effect on the ground when the sun shines. A low-flow, user-controlled water management system sources water from city lines and releases it back into the retention pond without any accumulation on the Splashpad, thereby eliminating the need for a lifeguard.
