It also had to meet the city’s concerns for lower staffing and maintenance costs, and include an efficient and flexible water-management system to reduce the city’s environmental impact.

The result is an aquatic playground whose nature-inspired shapes, colors, and designs were chosen to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Tall, tree, leaf and flower features spray water in all directions for a dynamic play experience, while Vortex’s Seeflow material casts vibrant shadows and shapes for a mesmerizing effect on the ground when the sun shines. A low-flow, user-controlled water management system sources water from city lines and releases it back into the retention pond without any accumulation on the Splashpad, thereby eliminating the need for a lifeguard.
