Every year the National Park Service helps hundreds of locally-driven projects create opportunities for healthy outdoor recreation, connect youth with the outdoors, and connect communities to parks. Though the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program provides no funding, we do provide the time and expertise of our experienced staff to help communities plan for success.
RTCA can help you by guiding you through your community project step by step. We count on the drive, commitment, and enthusiasm of community members to carry out the project. RTCA assists communities everywhere in Alaska in taking the necessary steps to reach their vision.
Learn to:
- Think and plan strategically,
- Communicate your ideas and build relationships,
- Find funding sources,
- Navigate state and federal regulations,
- Design and construct trails, and
- Create waterways and conservation networks.
